I'm an anthropologist with an interest in education across cultures. I did fieldwork in Ethiopia, where I spent two years looking both at formal schooling and at the informal learning of subsistence skills that happens as children grow up. Since returning to the US I've been reconsidering how education works (or fails) in our own society.
